1 Corinthians 13
“And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.”
Whoa. Even if we give every single morsel of food we own to feed the poor, and even sacrifice our bodies to a raging fire, there is neither profit, nor gain without love.
It seems like a person who would do these things would surely amount to something! But these must be done in love!
Thinking about giving to the poor, usually thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army are called “charities”. The word charity in that sense means “help given voluntarily to those in need”.
The kind of charity that the Bible is describing you must have, means “the love of humankind”.
Here’s a little something for you to remember: don’t be charitable without being charitable! Don’t just give your stuff unless you do it in love.
I think you get the point that you need real, genuine love, but you may be wondering, “What is this love so that I can apply it?” Tune in tomorrow to find out. One of those “To Be Continueds”…
Yesterday’s post was published almost at midnight, so that’s why it has today’s date on it. I had been trying to post that since Saturday, but kept getting sidetracked… Oh, look, squirrel!
Today’s post is really short… Sorry guys!
Monday, my brother mowed the lawn for our church, then we went straight to Mr. C’s baseball game. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch because I was helping in the concession stand , and his game was on the field far away from where I was 😥. I heard they had a big win, 21-1. Good job, Mr. C. and Co.!
