Dear August,

IMG_6794Dear August,

I must apologize for the length of time it has taken me to post… How in the world did time fly by so fast?!

First, I got home from my exciting time in Kentucky. I met many new friends, and was glad to see old ones! The fellowship spent playing games together, having church services in the barn, eating delicious meals, and so much more was a blast!

I also worked several days this month. Lots of days. I’m thankful for my job, and the money I earn, and how convenient it is for my family; but sometimes I miss my family. A lot.

And speaking of family, we had a family reunion! It was at an adorable tea house owned by one of my cousins-I-had-never-met. I cant wait to go back there maybe for a visit, or until the next reunion in 2018! I had so much fun meeting cousins I’d never met before. Let me say this, if you have never been to a family reunion, GO! You just might be pleasantly surprised!

My uncle, brother, cousin, and I went to the biggest D-Day event in the world {I just went on Friday, although I have been there I think 5 years in a row}. Last year, there were over 25,000 people that attended this event! It is in Conneaut, Ohio, on a 60 acre park. There are several small reenactments, authentic-looking camps to walk through, including American, English, French, and German, and quite the number of vendors {in case you get hungry, or want to buy a WW2 artifact}. There are free Higgin’s boat rides on Lake Erie. Saturday afternoon is the biggest reenactment, and the main reason why many people come. It is, of course, the reenactment of what happened on D-Day. Planes are flown, amphibious vehicles are used, tanks, an flame-thrower, and the works! I highly recommend going, should you ever get the chance! If you want to visit their website for details, it is ddayohio.us .

One Thursday evening within the past month, some of our youth group {which was my the couple that took us, three cousins of mine, and myself}, went to an Escape Room. We beat the August record {as of being there 🙂 } with 9 minutes and 22 seconds out of 50 minutes! we were quite pleased with ourselves! Then we went out to eat.

Another youth outing we did {which consisted of many more people}, was mini golf; more commonly known around here as Putt-Putt. I was so surprised to get a hole-in-one, and even get first place in the game! Usually I am always last place.

Besides all those fun activities, we have had a few bonfires, which are always enjoyable.

We had a campout for the Sunday School kiddos. There were games, food, and a skit some of us “adults” put on. Then we had a devotional/song and testimony service around a bonfire. Many slept there overnight. I usually do, but I had to work the next day.

I believe one of the most exciting things for me, was being asked to be a Maid-of-Honor in my cousin’s wedding! She just got engaged a couple weeks ago.

A quick testimony- I couldn’t find my driver’s permit anywhere for about a week, and it needs to be renewed in a 7-8 days, I think. So I was praying that the Lord would help me find it. During that time, my aunt lost some money, and we were praying that the Lord would help us find that, too! The next day, my aunt’s money was found! And, the day after that, I prayed that God would help me find my money that day. A couple hours later, I checked the glove box again, and my permit was in there! Whether it was in there already, or if the Lord put it in there, I don’t know, but what I DO know, is that my God is AWESOME! Thanks and praise to His Mighty Name!

Whew! And I do believe that sums up my Month in Review!.. Aside from the fact that our church’s special meetings for Labor Day begin tomorrow. Those meetings will be such a blessing, I am sure of it! We have a minister and his family coming up from Tennessee, and a minister from Africa. And we have company coming in tomorrow and Saturday, as well, because they will be attending our meetings.

Goodbye, August. You’ve been full of surprises and adventures!

~Cheye
