There are lots of positive pick-up lines we hear in this day and age, ones I have used myself, such as, “Keep Smiling!”, “Keep Your Chin Up!”, “Laughter Is The Best Medicine!”, “Choose Happiness!”, “Enjoy The Little Things!”and so many others. Each of these are good in their proper places.
There are some truth to these clichés, yet we are living in a time where depression and suicide are on a rampage! Don’t you thing that is rather ironic?
So, why doesn’t this “Stay Happy” stuff seem to work very well for most people?
“Sissie, can you help me?”, his sweet little voice asks.
This seems like a sort of ridiculous topic to blog about, but in observation of this day, I have a scrumptious, fudgy, chocolate peanut buttery delight for you.
And if you are anything like me, hardly anything tastes as good unless it is with peanut butter.
Our second day in Arizona began with an amazing breakfast of blueberry baked oatmeal. I think that was my favorite meal the entire twelve days of our stay {all the other food was scrumptious, too!}
The activities planned for that day, Friday, were kayaking and mountain climbing. Mr. D. and I have always wanted to go kayaking, and this was our first time. We loved it!
{Lots of photos ahead!!!
A 12-day trip to the Grand Canyon State… Many wonderful memories made!
I tried so many new things! Everything from milking goats and eating a prickly pear to jumping off a 40-50 foot cliff! (Really! I did!)
Dear August,
I must apologize for the length of time it has taken me to post… How in the world did time fly by so fast?!
This weekend, the Lord has allowed me to go on yet another trip. This time to Kentucky! So that's why I haven't posted anything yet, between work, getting ready for the trip, and such.
I am spending the night at my cousin's house, and we hope to leave by 7:00 tomorrow morning. My cousin Deana is coming along, too!
We will be coming back on Tuesday.
See y'all later! Please keep us in your prayers!
I am so sorry I am just now posting this!
I am also very excited for all of you viewers to read about how marvelous our God is; this story is truly a testimony of how much power Jesus Christ has over EVERYTHING! Even the weather and elements!
Here is the story from Sister Elisabeth’s point of view, as well as some photos.
Okay, so I promise to do my best and keep you posted about our trip to BYC (Believer’s Youth Camp) this week! I won’t be posting on the blog at least until next Saturday. We leave tomorrow, plan on staying at some of our friends’ home in Ohio, and continue on to Indiana. Keep us in your prayers for safe travels and a wonderful time! God Bless!
P. S. When I update you on this past week, I’ll tell y’all about the birthday weekend, and a trip to New England’s Connecticut.
Here’s a little analogy the came to me the other day. I was doing my devotions. and suddenly, the inspiration struck. So, here we go!
Here is a post about our three-day weekend in Kentucky, where the Celebration of Eternal Life was held for Libby. (Read more about her in this post). Even though this is 3 months later, I think it’s about time to share her Heaven-coming story.
Young ladies, this one is for you!
As a teenage girl, especially in today’s society, I think it is very honorable for a young lady to learn the arts of home-making, even if she doesn’t get married. As a young person myself, I struggle a lot with some of the things I’ll be talking about (such as waking up early!). There are many things a girl dedicated to home-making must learn, but I felt these were some of the most important and industrious.
Yesterday, my family was informed about the passing away of my thirteen-year-old cousin, whom we lovingly call “Libby”.
For years, she struggled with a painful disease that fought against her body.
I don’t understand how I get so incredibly busy. I still want to talk about Christmas and New Years, even though it is nearly the first of March! I have had an incredibly difficult time trying to put this slide show together for you. Please forgive my tardiness. I am sorry there isn’t any music. Perhaps you can play your favorite Christmas song while you watch. 😀
November is a month that shows us how blessed we are, and reminds us to be thankful for the things we have been blessed with. But whether we are in the month of November, or March, or any other time of year, we should learn to give thanks all the time.
Today is Election Day. Many people are so concerned about who will be the 45th U.S. President. Hilary Clinton vs. Donald Trump: who will be the winner? As much as we are being kept in suspense as to who the new national leader will be, let us not forget the One Who is truly in control! No matter if the candidate you voted for wins or loses, God knows exactly what will happen.
I want to stress that I am not a parent. I absolutely admit that parenting goes beyond what people who don’t have children actually perceive.
The following points are simply some of the most important things I have learned by merely watching the successes and mistakes of other parents. You may or may not share the same views that I have on these topics, but I believe each of them may prove to be a good reminder down the road, be of some use for my future family, and might even give you some fresh ideas, if you are parents.
Oh, dear. This post has certainly been a long time in coming! I actually have some spare-ish time while chillaxing in my bed during a thunderstorm to share with you some memories of BYC 2016! Just so you know, I won’t really be “catching up” on all the news since then, because there is way too much to go into. And my poor brain would be helplessly worn out. So in future posts, I will basically just be doing things in the present. Aside from Baby I care, chores, church, now school, the fair a couple weeks ago, et cetera, I have had to tackle my bedroom.
I am excited and pleased to announce that we have a special post today! A sweet young lady, who I met at the Believer’s Youth Camp I talk about so often, has an incredible talent for writing stories. I thought it would be fun to have kind of an informal interview with her, via email, and she was very gracious to answer some questions for us.
I’m sorry, folks. This is not the BYC post you were hoping for. I am currently working on that, just so you know. I have something else for you though, while you’re ever so patiently waiting.
Oh dear. I had best get this post out soon, and continue telling what has been going on, because another huge wave of activity is going to be rushing in!
Oh, my dear readers! How I’ve neglected you poor souls! I am going to recap the highlights of the past month for you. I hope it doesn’t sound rushed.
Y’all, I got my violin Wednesday night!
🎤 I’m done with school! I’m done with school! 🎤
I’m not excited, am I? I’d be lying if I said no. 😀
P.S. There’s a video below!
i didn’t get home until like, 4:45 Thursday morning! You know why?
Alright, my dear readers, I promised to tell you about our youth trip we took on Saturday. Here we go!
I’m writing this post about what I did today because I won’t be able to tomorrow. Some of our youth are going to a church function tomorrow out of state. I’ll be sure to try and tell you all about it Monday or Tuesday.
“Rejoiceth no in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:6
*Yaaaaaaawwwwn* It’s 6 in the morning. Do you know how early that is for me? I’m not much of an “early riser”. So if you are one of those special people, please don’t think I’m lazy. I’m usually up by nine.
2 hours later…
The Lord’s Day was bright, beautiful, and warm. Deana and I took charge of the older Sunday school group. Here’s an idea of what it was like:
Yikes, I’m sorry my dear readers! I have been so busy lately trying to get ready for graduation, and house cleaning, and other projects, I almost feel like a chicken with its head cut off (pardon the gruesome expression!).
“Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:5
“Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil.” ~1 Corinthians 13:5
I am going to tell you about the graduation party we went to Saturday. It was a bit chilly and windy since we were by a lake. All in all, we had fun, chatting and watching some people play football. I don’t play football, neither do I understand it very well, but I don’t mind watching people I know playing it.
I have a testimony. This morning when I woke up, I had an awful cramp in my leg. Thank the Lord He took it away from me!
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.” ~1 Corinthians 13:4
I’ll tell you about the suprise just as soon as I finish Part 4. Promise!
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up…” ~1 Corinthians 13:4
“And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.”
Oh dear. I’m afraid this is going to be a long post. I will have to continue The Love Series tomorrow. I have so much to say since Friday! Kick back and settle down for this is one time-consuming post.
“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:2
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13:1
Yesterday evening was lovely- not quite as warm as I would like, but I can’t complain! My dad mowed the lawn, and now our yard looks a hundred times better!
Alright, readers, I am going to do something a little different today. I am doing a book review.
I am sorry for the delay. I know I have to keep things interesting or else you guys won’t want to read my stuff. Enough babbling.
I was asked to assist my cousin with a babysitting job, and since I love children, I try to take as many babysitting opportunities as I can.
You guessed it- I went to the chiropractor yesterday! I am one of those people who love to get popped and cracked. Well, my rib was quite out of place, so it was causing pain in my shoulder. She put me back in place and put a long piece of tape down my back to hold me together. I am a little sore still, but a lot better, thank the Lord! By the way, folks, the link to that image where that skeleton is excited because it got adjusted is here.
Since yesterday wasn’t too exciting, I thought I’d share with you the what and why of my Low Sugar diet. I still eat “normal” foods, like fruits, veggies, meat, dairy, fats like oil and butter, and wheat products (I like bread and pasta!). I am just controlling my refined white sugar intake.
Monday. Most people dread that word. It was a fairly good Monday, though. For us, it started out getting up early-ish to go over to my aunt’s and help prepare a brunch that we were having for the missionary and his family. The meal consisted of breakfast burritos, breakfast pizza, breakfast muffins, and cottage berry whip (THM recipe). All low carb. Most people there were low-carbers, so that kinda makes sense. Sorry, I neglected to take a picture of the scrumptious brunch! 😒
Greetings and salutations (as Eugene Meltsener in Adventures in Odyssey would say). Today is such a beautiful day, yes? “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” ~Psalm 118:24
Ahhh… I LOVE Spring! When it finally starts warming up after a long winter, the birds start bursting with joyful tweets, lovely flowers start peeping their pretty little heads above the soil, we get lots of warm and sunshiny days, and after we have a drink of rain, the air is so fresh and clean! And speaking of clean… That’s what we did part of our day yesterday.
Yesterday, I had my first violin lesson! Unfortunately, I don’t have my own violin, so I borrowed our teacher’s. I learned what the notes of the strings are, and I’m still learning how not to squeak 😄.
Since yesterday was so lovely, a bike ride was definitely on the agenda! My mom, four siblings, aunt, two cousins, grandma, and I went to a mile-long, all-purpose trail. There were six of us kids riding bikes while the ladies walked and Baby I ate snacks in his stroller.
Hello there! What a beautiful day to serve the Lord! It is the beginning of a new day and a new blog.
